Who Qualifies for a QROPS?
Anyone over the age of 18 and under the age of 75, who is either a non-UK tax resident, or has the intention to become a non-UK tax resident within the next 12 months is eligible for a QROPS Pension Transfer.
If you are a Canadian or US national, you will require special advice, and will need to contact a financial adviser.
Generally it is best to only transfer a UK Pension that is in excess of £25 000, as the benefits can be undermined by costs below this level. However, if your UK Pension is below this threshold, you may top it up with a single contribution, thus allowing you to transfer it to a QROPS.
It is important to understand whether or not a QROPS suites you and this should be discussed with a financial adviser. To get in touch with a financial advisor to evaluate QROPS eligibility, or for more information on QROPS.
